How Students Qualify for AIS
Students qualify for AIS in many different ways. In September I assess all students with universal benchmark assessments. We look to see if students have met the standards or benchmarks for reading from the pervious grade. We also take into consideration NYS Exam scores, i-Ready diagnostic scores, classroom achievement and parent concerns. As a team we look at all of this information and determine of a student would benefit from additional support. If a student qualifies a letter is sent home to the family. If a child receives AIS it does not mean they will receive it for the whole year. They get the support for as long as it is needed.
